UPDATE rom Angel on Mark
Please pray as Mark has to have vent put back on last night. He was breathing to quickly and was also not deep enough. Doctors ran scans of belly and no signs of leaks from liver or spleen. The doctor was concerned it could be a combination of anxiety and possibly fluid around his heart or possibly blood clot. His lab work does not indicate blood clot. He also has a tube in his lung to drain fluid from the lung. He isn't able to keep anything down, water included, so far. Please continue to pray over Mark and Jason and Stephanie. It is so hard to watch him suffer. They thank you all for praying. today Mark stood up and sat in straight chair today and sat for 1 1/2 hours. He is a procedure currently to drain fluid from left lung. Then they will performing a scan on his liver to see if fluid needs to be drained off to help with his digestion.

UPDATE ON MARK STITH as of Friday at 3:30 p.m.... He is still on the vent. He has a fever of 100 that he can't seem to break and his white blood count is slightly elevated, so they were going to do some tests to see if another antibiotic would work better. Drain tubes in back have been removed, tube in side that is draining fluid might come out either today or tomorrow. They started giving him nutrients through his ng tube and last night he met his goal with that which means his body is finally starting to absorb it. They keep telling us baby steps it's a marathon not a sprint. We welcome all prayers!

health update on Joy written by her, Health Update: This has been a month of changes. I still get approximately 3 1/2L of fluid removed from my abdomen every week. But instead of being centered in one specific area it has spread out making removal more difficult. Whenever I leave the house I am exhausted when I get home. I made it to a church service in January and March. It is unlikely I’ll be able to make another one as we had to leave early and I could barely make it back to the house and my bed. As the fluid spreads across my abdomen (this is a result of the cancer invading my liver), the pressure causes pain which the doctor has been treating with one opioid, and then another. Neither has worked well but have caused undesirable side effects. The worst being painful constipation and nightmares. This week I was switched from the opioids to Tramadol. So far it is working well for pain relief and I haven’t noticed any side effects. There are new symptoms, however. I have started vomiting small amounts. This is often triggered by smells or flavors. So I am very careful of what I am around that could cause it ( scent of alcohol in eyeglass cleaner, toothpaste, etc). I am also slowly losing weight but have yet to reach my desired size, LOL. On April 19 I will meet the date the oncologist said would be my most optimistic life expectancy. I’m sure I am going to surpass that so I will set my own next goal - my 40th wedding anniversary of August 12. I have a great support system. Dave does whatever I need when he’s home. Our friend who stays with us covers the times when he’s at work. Our local kids, daughter, Beth, and son, Mark, run errands for me (grocery store, prescription pick up, etc). Mark also handles car repairs, inspections, etc. My life group friends provide us with meals on Thursdays and also visits me during the week. A couple from the church Dave attends comes over on weekends to do a short Bible study and pray with us. I have a wonderful nurse through Centra Hospice. She is easy to talk to and is a great advocate for me. It is not easy going through this disease process but I am so blessed by the support I have. Even my mechanic called to check on me yesterday. I am so blessed by the people around me as well as Facebook friends who I have become close to over the years. I have so many people who pray for me and am thankful to them. And I thank God for walking through this with me and I pray He uses my experience to bless others and to use for His glory.
Continued prayers
