FIRST: "GOD SEES HER" WHAT LASTS FOREVER? (Psalm 102:25-28)
My friend, who had endured many difficulties, wrote, "As I reflect on the past four semesters of student life, so many things have changed.....It is really scary. (NOTHING STAYS FOREVER)>
Indeed, many things can happen in two years. Good or bad, a life-altering experience may be lurking just around the corner, waiting to pounce! What a comfort to know that our loving heavenly Father Jehovah does not change.
The psalmist says, "You remain the same, and your years will never end", (Psalm 102:27). God is forever loving, just, and wise. As Bible teacher Arthur W. Pink states: " Whatever the attributes of God were before the universe was called into existence, they are precisely the same now, and will remain so forever".
In our changing circumstances, we can always be assured that our good God will always be consistent to His character.
It may seem that nothing lasts forever, but our God Jehovah will remain consistently good to those who are His own.
OUR DAILY BREAD: SHINING STARs (Philippians 2:15-16)
I can close my eyes and go back in time to the house where I use to live. At night I would look up into the dark skies and look at all the white twinkling lights, which were stars. These pin pricks of light, born of heat and fire, stood out in sharp contrast to the smooth, ink-black sky.
Have you ever considered yourself to be a shining star?
I'm not talking about reaching the heights of human achievement, but standing out against a dark background of brokenness and evil. The apostle Paul told the Philippian believers that God would shine in and through them as they held " firmly to the word of life" and avoided grumbling and arguing (Philippians 2:14-16).
Our unity with other believers and our faithfulness to God Jehovah can set us apart from the world. The problem is that these things don't come naturally. We constantly strive to overcome temptation so we can maintain a close relationship with God. We wrestle against selfishness to have harmony with our spiritual brothers and sisters.
But still, there's hope. Alive in each believer, God's Spirit empowers us to be self-controlled, kind, and faithful (Galatians 5:22-23). JUST as we are called to live beyond our natural capacity, God's supernatural help makes this possible (Philippians 2:13). If every believer became a " Shining Star" through the power of the Spirit, just imagine how the light of God would repel the darkness around us!
