IN TOUCH WITH; PASTOR CHARLES STANELY. (READ 2 CORINTHIANS 5:14-21).
1) "FROM ALIENATION to RECONCILIATION"
One of the Hardest Truths for many nonbelievers to accept is that they're enemies of Jehovah God. Even though they aren't close to the LORD, they still consider themselves good people. Surely, they think, I haven't done anything bad enough to make myself HIS enemy. But the truth is, everyone begins life alienated from
God because ALL mankind is born into sin (Psalm 51:5; Roman 5:12).
To be saved, a person must first understand that the gap between perfect God and sinful man is vast. Human beings like comparing themselves with others to illustrate how good they are, but the standard for goodness isn't other people; it's a holy, perfect God. The only way to reach HIM is through faith in SIS SON for forgiveness and reconciliation (John 14:6). Whoever rejects Christ's offer of salvation simply cannot spend eternity with God.
Only the cross of Christ spans the gulf between alienation and reconciliation. Jesus took our sins upon HIMSELF and underwent the punishment we deserved. Now any person who trusts in the SAVIOR's substitutionary atonement can enter into a new live of communion with GOD.
2) "THE PRICE for REJECTING GOD" (READ 1John 5:11-13).
MANY PEOPLE BELIEVE THEY'LL GO TO HEAVEN because they tried to live a good life, but the only way to spend eternity with God Jehovah is to receive JESUS CHRIST's gift of salvation. Whoever refuses the gift will be separated from HIM for all eternity.
For a person to be saved, he must first recognize that on his own, he is not good enough to deserve anything from God. His sin is rebellion that alienates him from his CREATOR. No matter how hard he tries, he can't avoid sinning again because it's his nature. However, if he turns to Christ in faith, all his sins are forgiven. He's pronounced not guilty and is given a brand-new nature.
But if someone rejects the truth that salvation comes only through the atoning death of JESUS CHRIST, that person has nowhere else to turn. His good works aren't enough to get him into heaven, because his transgressions remain unforgiven.
These words are mot meant to scare you; they're a warning about what the future holds if you reject the LORD's offer of salvation. God has set before you a choice between eternal life and death.
What will you choose?
3)" HOW to LISTEN to GOD" (READ DEUTERONOMY 8:1-3).
ARE YOU A GOOD LISTENER?
It's an essential skill in every relationship, and that includes our fellowship with God. Most of us are better at talking to HIM than we are at listening. We're quick to tell HIM our needs and requests but are sometimes in such a hurry that we overlook consulting HIS WORD to see what HE has to say.
The sad truth is that many CHRISTIANS would rather skip reading the BIBLE than skip something else in their daily routine. Yet, God's Word is the foundation of our faith, and we need to feast on it regularly if we're to thrive spiritually. Daily consumption of Scripture results in a transformed mind, which in turn aligns our perspective, desires, attitudes, words, and choices with the LORD's will.
Although every verse in the Bible is inspired by GOD and given to us for our benefit, we won't hear HIS voice unless we make HIS WORD a priority. If we ask, HE will teach us to listen and help us understand what HE is saying in Scripture. Our spirit needs to be tuned to the FATHER JEHOVAH, and this sensitivity develops through prayer, meditation on HIS WORD, and a submissive heart that obeys HIS commands.
3)"OUR FIRM FOUNDATION" READ (PSALM62)
AT CERTAIN MOMENTS THROUGHOUT HISTORY, GOD literally shook the earth. The ground quaked as HIS SON died on the cross (MATTHEW 27:51), and there will be an even greater upheaval in the future when CHRIST returns (Zech. 14:4).
But even in our present day, the LORD often lets the various foundations of our world shake-whether political alliances, financial systems, or loss. If we've relied on the fragile footing of human wisdom, achievement, or pride, things may look good for a while, but a weak foundation cannot withstand the storms of life.
The believer, however, can have peace even in the midst of instability. That's because we know God always has a purpose for the upheavals HE allows to occur. Hardships have a way of shaking us out of our apathy and self-centeredness, and they serve as reminders not to trust in ourselves or the temporary institutions of this world. There is only one secure foundation: a genuine, saving relationship with JESUS CHRIST, which will carry us through any and all turmoil.
Thank you for reading my writings, even though there from books and such. I pray that at least one person, preferably more, will seriously meditate on what all has been written.
Also my own thoughts will be written in a new area that was given to me, by the Grace of God.
