GOD SEES HER: READ (HOHN 6:32-40).
"HEART HUNGER";
Riding along with my husband on some errands, I scrolled through emails on my phone and was surprised at an incoming advertisement for a local donut shop, a shop we had just passed on the right side of the street. I marveled at how technology allows vendors to woo us into their establishments.
As I clicked off my email, I mused over God's constant yearning to draw me closer. He always knows where I am and longs to influence my choices. I wondered, Does my heart long for HIM the way I longed for a donut?
In John 6, following the miraculous feeding of the five thousand, the disciples eagerly ask Jesus to give them "the bread that...gives life to the world' (VV.33-34). JESUS RESPONDS IN VERSE 35, " I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE. WHOEVER COMES TO ME WILL NEVER BE HUNGRY and WHOEVER BELIEVES IN ME WILL NEVER BE THIRSTY". How amazing that a relationship with Jesus can provide constant nourishment!
God's continuous knowledge of my heart's condition invites me to recognize my ongoing need for HIM and to receive the sustenance only HE can provide.
A WORD FROM Dr. STANLEY:
We've all heard it said; that "no man is an island"-and it's true. We may at times feel isolated in this busy, distracted world, but we're meant to be interdependent and share life with others. The Trinity itself reflects the importance of relationships. Those closest to us offer some of the best opportunities for practicing love, sacrifice, and forgiveness. The light of Christ shines in you because of HIS presence, and that's' not just a saying---it's a biblical fact. As you read let him show you how to keep the light "ON THE LAMPSTAND, SO THAT THOSE WHO ENTER MAY SEE THE LIGHT" (Luke 11:33). You're not the only one who'll benefit. You can support the growth of others in, or toward, JESUS, and that's a PRICELESS gift.
