BEAM IN THE EYE SYNDROME:
If there was ever a time when the body of Christ needed to unite, then I believe that time is now. Division is certainly not the way to win the lost. Jesus said, " All men shall know ye are my disciples if you have love one to another. " (John 13:35).
What message are we sending if the only image of Christianity that others perceive is one of discord?
Even if folks are born-again and filled with the HOLY SPIRIT, they will never agree on everything. However, one thing is certain: we are to love GOD and love our neighbors. To do this, we must learn to put aside our differences.
Have you ever caught yourself judging another's success or comparing it to your own?
A common trap of the enemy is when we start to compare what we have with what someone else has or what their lifestyle is in comparison to our own. Jealousy and envy slowly creep in. This type of thinking is often voiced in families, churches, businesses, and even among friends. An illustration of this could be: "So and so has a bigger house than we do". They drive a nicer car than we do". "Their church is larger than ours". Alternatively, "Why are they more successful than us?
You get the idea?
The list goes on and on. In fact, this way of thinking stretches far beyond the success or failure of others.
Perhaps without even realizing it, we judge the character, motives, and behaviors of others as well. We put our nose where doesn't belong.
An example of this could be when we express our opinions of someone else to others. "I don't think they should be doing what they're doing. I think they're missing GOD. " If I were them, I would do things differently". "They need to change. GOD's not happy with them". I don't think He or She should have married so-and-so". "They need to put their kids in public school".
Have you ever been guilty of this?
Here's where the danger lies: when we sit in the judgment seat and begin to point the finger at others. We're essentially saying that we know better. If it were up to us, things would be handled differently.
Did the LORD have something to say along these lines? READ (MATTHEW 7:1-5 (KJV).
As long as we feel like we know better or more than so-and -so, then that is the measuring stick hereby we will be judged. When we cast judgement on someone, we have placed ourselves in the judgement seat and have assumed a position that only belongs to GOE, not us. Why on earth would anyone in their right mind attempt to dethrone the LORD. Consider what the HOLY SPIRIT said in Romans chapter 14. (14:4).
Do people actually believe it's OK to judge another man's servant and that the LORD will turn and look the other way?
Judging is a very serious topic that we don't always hear much about. It's an area that is constantly being violated, hence, we'd rather talk about something else to not draw attention to ourselves. Yes, it's true that GOD's power and anointing will sustain people if obedient to HIS voice.
So, when, who are we to judge another man's servant?
Whether or not they rise to the top or fall to the ground is not our business. When their obedience causes others to be blessed, then we should rejoice with them!
On a more practical note, it is understandable for someone to have personal convictions along a given line. Not everyone is on the same page or in the same spiritual grade. There's nothing wrong with personal convictions as long as we don't try to force our convictions on others and run their household for them. (I'm not saying to stop preaching the Gospel, as this is a mandate from the LORD himself. People need to hear the good news). I'm referring to the choices that individuals make in their own lives. They may not share the same convictions as we do but that's okay. We're all growing and becoming more like Jesus. Don't forget that there will come a day when we will all have to give an account to GOD. READ: ROMANS 14:10,12 (TPT).
It is important to note that this passage indicates that everyone will have their turn and must answer to GOD for themselves. There's no escaping the appointment. Since this is the reality, and each of us must present our case, let's be sure that we are not seeking the approval of man just to feel good about ourselves. If at the end of the day, the only voice that matters are the LORD's, then we must make it our PRIORITY to obey HIM over pleasing others by doing what they believe we should be doing. Remember, that it's always better to obey GOD rather than man.
The message today I want to convey to you, is to avoid being critical or judgmental of others. This verse in ROMANS 14:19, I want to leave with you. So please read it.
Be encouraged, friend, and be sure to draw from HIS strength so that you'll be able to face every situation in life that you may encounter. Reach out and encourage someone else today. Let the goodness of GOD shine through you. Remember, you are a blessing going someplace to happen and you're the only JESUS that someone may ever meet!
