my older post about cortisol
It seems like i have been riding roller coasters in dieting (for lack of word terms) for 35 years! One would think i would give it up and just go with the flow, but my legs and health keep me trying. i figure the older i get the less my legs like to carry the weight. And my BP would get worse if i let it all go, so i am told. So here i am, on the roller coaster ... BTW i always hated the amusement ride! Could never understand why one had fun scaring themselves to death.
My husband just finished 2 weeks at home on lay off. As much as i love him home, He is a major tempter in my eating, Thin and can eat anything! Always tempting me with a chocolate or i make him a cake and eat a little myself. Even small pieces effect my weight. I put on 5 lbs when he was home. That's a big deal for me because 5# on take a month or more to get it off. To top it off i am still hanging on to the pounds i have been bouncing around with for the last 20 years. up and down.
A couple of times in those 20 years i got pretty low. took off 30-50 pounds. Yet they always worked their way back on me after some crisis or dysfunctional season. CAN ANYONE RELATE? or am i just a weird one? The two times i went down i was doing Keto once and the Six week Make Over Diet once. But when i fell off them, i found that my body rejected the plan when i tried to start up again and i would get sick.
Now i am thinking i have learned some principles from those two diets without their "PLAN", so i will not get sick. i am just figuring this out. i cannot do as much protein as they call for. However, I will need to make my own PLAN or i will waiver. i should take into consideration what made me sick and what i cannot eat because i will gain weight and write them down. a personalized plan with much prayer.
I do like intermit fasting. i feel it is a very healthy way to eat and people do it without restrictions, but i need the restriction. Like cheese, i love cheese and IN MY MIND i think its protein, but cheese makes me gain weight if i have too much of it and i could eat it like candy! so limiting cheese is a important step for me.
I think fasting for 17 hours give the body a chance to heal. So, i will set a time span for eating that works with my husband's schedule. Something like noon to 7 or 1-8 or my time has been 2-9 because Jim eats so late with his work schedule and the summer sun. i really want to move my time to a 1-8 frame. so i think i may try the half hour spot, 1:30- 8:30 then go from there for the food choices and how many hours in between for eating times.
i also will need to incorporate size of meals because i have a big holding system for dinners, old habits are hard to break. maybe i can work them down also in increments. Humm i am thinking and getting motivated by sharing this with you all. Writing my own personal plan could work. providing i don't give myself the edge LOL
I also read somewhere again about cortisol hormone that keeps a person from losing weight and to get that under control is not always easy. Can you live a stress-free life? Not going to happen here. but i can take out times to be stress free, like sitting on my porch with a good breeze blowing on my face and letting the dogs get some fresh air. a 20 - 30 min break. i can also read a chapter in a book and take another break. if i do this before eating times maybe it will help. with a good cup of tea. i heard lemon balm tea is a benefit in helping cortisol come down. I also heard green tea is good for losing weight.
With this in mind i think i will create an iced tea or a pot of tea using both Lemon Balm and Green tea. Why not use some of my Hibiscus tea i use for BP too. A person can combine healthy teas and drink them at the time of breaks.
We all need to move more effectively. i move alot with gardening and housework but a relaxing walk after dinner, starting at 20 minutes working up to 45 would be a good thing to inject into my day as well.
Wow this will take some determination action to create a schedule for my normal days that i can do this. i see in my head where it would probably change this roller coaster ride i and have been on, but bad habits are hard to break. Would you pray i can work into this way of life. i do not expect miracles, but consistent trying and not giving up. i have changed my sleep habits with continuous efforts. So, change is not impossible.
i will get off this now and work on a doable schedule and my food choices plan.
Time for an AutumnGrace Makeover.
I will be back in touch here sooner or later with good or bad results. i am transparent. TEA
BTW i am a-cof-fee-girl and i have incorporated Tea into my lifestyle. Another change i have made.
i also have begun to drink 4 oz of beet juice once a day for my BP too. i drink it in the early evening.
