PROTECT YOUR SEED, by Pastor Todd Levin;
Dear Friends,
The forces of nature can be very harsh on seeds and, in many instances, result in the harvest being lost. The soil, water, and sun are the three essential elements that must be present for a seed to grow and produce after it has been planted. Even though the seed had God-given potential from the beginning, without proper care, the seed may not produce the desired outcome. As long as a farmer is willing to do his part, then the seed will bring forth a harvest in due season. But let me ask you a Question.
What will happen to the seed if the farmer fails to protect and cultivate it?
Harvest will be lost.
As I was thinking about this, I wonder just how many Christians understood that, though the Bible is filled with God's promises and that according to Luke 8:11, God likens his word as unto a seed, "The seed is the word of God." If we fail to guard our hearts, then our harvest can be lost. Though it is the will of God to bless us, heal us, help us, and direct our paths, not every seed will produce a harvest, and not every promise of God will come to pass in our lives if we do not protect the seed.
What I mean by this is, take, for example, a Christian who is battling with sickness or disease in their body. They turn to God's word for healing and deliverance, and rightly so, but if the seed of God's word is compromised instead of guarded, then the harvest will be lost. Let's be honest, if we're going to believe God for our healing, then we must PROTECT the seed of his word that has already been planted in our hearts. Because the soil in which God's word is to be planted in our heart.
(MARK 4:14-20 [KJV], AND (MATTHEW 13:19 [KJV].
Keep in mind that the devil never plays fair. He has no interest in Christians enjoying the promises of God. As Jesus stated in Mark 4:14, as soon as the seed of God's word is sown in our hearts, the enemy comes immediately with the intent of stealing it, thus canceling the benefit that God intended for us to experience.
This list alone should be enough to convince us that if we don't guard our hearts, where the seed is sown, then inevitably the enemy will attempt to steal the word right out from under our noses as we say.
1)A lack of understanding (this usually results in the enemy easily twisting the word of God into a lie.
2)Affliction persecution.
3)Offense [or become offended].
4)Worry and cares of this world [Fear].
5)The pursuit of things rather than the pursuit of God.
6)Responsibility [won't admit you were wrong, etc.].
The word "Keep" in verse 23 is the word, " nasar" in Greek. The Strong's dictionary defines this word as to "guard, protect, and preserve."
(PROVERBS 4:23 (NLT).
What we're seeing is that it's OUR responsibility to guard these areas of our hearts where the seed has been sown in order to PROTECT THE SEED.
Something that I noticed time and time again with Christians who needed a miracle in their life, a family member, in a disaster, or another area. We cannot allow strife, bitterness, anger, disobedience, or unforgiveness [that means forgiving ourselves too] to get in the way of our harvest.
READ: 1 PETER 2:24, PHILIPPEANS 4:19, GALATIANS 5:6 and HEBREWS 4:2[KJV]. We MUST KEEP WITHIN OUR HEARTS THE HIDDEN WORD, [SEED OF GOD].
Sometimes, again I wonder just how serious we actually are when we say that we are believing God for the things that he has promised. Or, for US to remain ignorant is to give the devil the upper hand. (EPHESIANS 4:27).
This means that we should be spending more time in God's Word, reading and studying; rather than entertaining ourselves with television, socializing on Facebook [etc.], or playing video games with our friends, or just zoning out.
At all costs, we must guard our hearts where the seed of God's word has been planted. Undoubtedly, we will encounter challenges in life. Offenses will come.
Fear will be knocking at the door. But no matter what the adversary throws at us, we are committed to protecting the seed [Word]. We are determined to stand on God's word no matter what report or whose report we may receive. And regardless of the thoughts that might cross our minds, we should screen each one in light of God's word, i.e.,
What does the Bible say?
Remember, the Bible calls Satan " the deceiver." The moment we esteem his thoughts higher than God's word, then the seed has become vulnerable.
Friend, we're standing and trusting God with you, and for all His promises to be fulfilled in your life. If you will purpose in your heart to do your part and protect the seed and nurture it every day through prayer and thanksgiving, then your harvest will come in.
There's a time to plant and a time to harvest. Every seed [person] has its due season. No word of God is void of power. Every word that God has spoken will accomplish its purpose.
To know that God has exalted his word above his name says it all! (PSALM 138:2). Every word that is spoken by God is truth. He is a man who would NOT lie. If He promise, then He stands behind His word and enforces it to completion.
Remember the "seed" represents people and promises from God.
