HOW TO USE FAIH:
So, the quantity and quality of our faith isn't our problem.
Faith is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, which every believer has (Galatians 5:22). We have faith, and it's the same faith that Paul, Peter---all the faith giants---and even Jesus had.
If so, why don't we see that faith work for us?
Right after Peter said he was writing to those with precious faith with him, he said, "According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:" (2 Peter 1:3).
The problem isn't a lack of faith but rather a lack of knowledge about what we have and how to use it. If we don't know we have the faith of Jesus, we won't even attempt to use it. We will just keep believing the lie that what we have isn't enough. What we don't know is killing us. As Hosea said, "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge..." (Hosea 4:6).
There are multitudes of Christians who don't know it's God will heal, deliver, and prosper them; and therefore, they don't receive those blessings. It won't happen without them first of all acknowledging what is theirs. As Paul told Philemon when he prayed for him, "...the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus" (Philemon 1:6). This faith of Jesus only works for us if we know what we have. The first step is to understand what's ours, and then we have to learn how to use it.
To learn how to use faith, it's important to understand there are laws that govern God's faith. Paul spoke about the "law of faith" (ROMAN 3:27). Just as there are laws that govern this physical world, there are laws that govern the spiritual world and the God kind of faith. Take electricity as an example. Electricity has existed since the Lord created the earth. Lightning and static electricity have been with us since the beginning. But man didn't learn how to harness electricity and use it for our benefit until the 1800's. It was our lack of understanding that kept people from using electric lights and all our modern conveniences for thousands of years. And likewise, it's people's lack of knowledge that keeps them from understanding and using this supernatural, God kind of faith. If a person violates the laws governing electricity, it's not the electric company that kills them as punishment. Sure, the electric company generates the power, but there are laws that govern electricity. If you touch a live wire and are grounded, you will "reap" the results. In a similar way, Christians violate God's laws concerning faith, and it has terminal results. And if someone wants the lights turned in their house, they don't call the electric company and ask them to turn on the lights. The power company generates the power, but they place it at your command. You have to turn on the switch. They won't do it for you. (You must do it yourself and no-one else).
