i was reading Exodus the 23rd chapter. and a few chapters before that one. God was giving many rules He wanted them to know.
RULES RULES RULES....
On the end of the chapter God presented me an awesome revelation!! It was a real eye opener for me!! i had felt God was pretty hard on the Israelites, expecting them to follow all those rules. He knew they would not be able to keep them all. I've heard it said several times, that by laying out all the rules they could not keep, that the people would know they would need a Savior. Although this aspect carries truth, None-the-less, what God spoke to my heart today opened up my personal desire to keep those rules.
The rules God gave were not given to simply OBEY or FAIL to OBEY. He gave rules to His children to KEEP THIER HEARTS FREE OF EVIL. They were to be used and applied to the failing heart (soul) conditions of man.
We take supplements to keep us from getting sick and keep our body's immune system working well to ward off viruses. Just like certain supplements do for our body, these rules in the Bible do for our inner heart. They are like antibiotics and preventative for our failing heart's condition. (Remember only God knows our heart, even more than we know our own) We need to apply the right rule for the right condition to keep our heart working properly and clean. The same way we take a preventative, like echinacea, vit. D, etc.
Then others are there for us when we are spiritually sick in our heart. they are applied like you would take an antibiotic to rid yourself from infection. Our spiritual heart suffers many things, so much of how we think is imperfect and wicked. We do not know how to love as God does, we suffer unkindness to a neighbor, we do not always know the right and fair thing to do in situations. But God has it written all of them down and you will find one will apply to each circumstance of life to make us well again.
I am not discarding grace, Jesus gave grace to cover all sin and imperfections, but we are told in the Bible to continue to work out our salvation. We do what we can to be closer to Christlikeness as we journey thru our faith and wherever we are at when we get to the end of our journey, Jesus will cover the rest by His Grace.
Each has their own path, He did not make us clones, but He did give us a desire to follow Him. So even though our journeys travel different pathways, we are continually being changed. I for one, am not the person He found years ago. i am new every season, i have quit doing things i used to do and i have changed my personal opinions for more godly ones. I have gradually been transformed. i quit lying because i read a rule in the Bible, "do not lie", "all liars will not inherit the Kingdom of heaven". In Exodus 23:1 it said, "you shall not spread a false report".
These rules given are there to bring healing to your heart. To know the correct way to do things. To understand what Father God's perception of fair and good are. We want to be like Him, because we love Him and know His ways are the right way. We know they are the only holy and perfect way.
When i grow up i want to be just like My Father.
So i will take my preventatives and antibiotics when i see that i need them.
