It is COLD here in northern MI. temps are down to 10 and no higher than 22 for an hour. Yesterday it hit 19 for an hour. BURRRRR. But it could be worse. On the up side I can still see the dead autumn leaves on the ground and the patches of snow are sparsely scattered. However we do not lack for ice. have to penguin walk in a few spots. God is very good to us, it really can be a lot worse with snow and with dropping temperatures.
After 2 cups of & a good nights sleep, I feel more energized. We brought Kansas, my Rooster and Judah, my outside garage cat in last night. This made for a good nights sleep after 2 days of little rest being concerned for Kansas to get it by the weasel. Incase you did not hear, my 7 hens were massacred 3 nights ago. weasels can get into a quarter-size hole. Now we know too late. The latch on my hen door failed and the weasel was able to push it open barely enough to get in. then he went to town. Mt Rooster was on the other side of a tight knitted fence and heard it all but the weasel could not get to him. However the weasel was determined to get that one too. he begun to chew a hole in the other side of the coop to get to him. he worked on it diligently for 2 nights. I blocked the hole & brought in the Roo.
Meanwhile, Jim has been working 3 nights after work, diligently to kill the critter. The weasel has set off 2 traps but no got caught. Jim is now trying weasel boxes with a trap and a piece of liver. It was so cold last night I think the smell was not enticing enough because we did not get him. Corse we were out & about late last night and making lots of racket maybe he left the area until another day. I do not know what it will take . I never prayed before to catch this critter (dead) but I am now. this guy is wicked. worst than a fox or cayote, worse than a coon or possum. Worse than birds of prey. he is fierce and tiny. weighs under a pound. and grows nose to tail up to 16 inches in length. like a little snake with paws. His bite look like a vampire. two parallel puncture holes an inch apart. he wraps himself around the neck and punctures their neck. wicked wicked wicked.
Anyways this is what has captured our attention. I am praising God that this soon will pass and life will go back to normal. what ever that is these days haha.
Totally off the subject: I am having a craft party next Thursday. We are making Crisco candles and vegetable oil lamps. trying to create a safe spot for fellowship. Have 4 people signed up to come with 3 maybe's. praying God will use this time for what ever is needed.
And this was a crazy work today but insightful. Realizing cultures have changed but not the woes of men.. It was Lamentations 5:4. " We drink our own water -- at a price. we have to pay for what is our own firewood." I do not know about the way you live but we have bought drinking water and god given wood we have had to buy as well. Just thought that was interesting. 2 things God has supplied water & wood and we are charged for it. even city water has a price!
Have a blessed day.
