Been doing a lot of thinking about things today. world events, people being ill, Jim's health problem, trying not to give into worry but turn it into TRUST. Doing good for 65% but I still falter. Praying in the spirit to gain more on this in me.
I just know we are at the brink of major changes in everything. I do not claim to know what but it is in the air. the spiritual atmosphere has been sounding off loudly. Sometimes even frightening as we watch mankind fall to such depravities. They seek pleasures for the moment over God. If they knew Him they would have hope for their tomorrows ,but instead they just want to hide in whatever makes them feel good and we watch and see how unsuccessful it is in their lives. Yet they bounce back and find another pleasure to carrying them a few yards farther. As we Christians move from spiritual directions to the next assignment of joy, they move from pleasure to pleasure without finding inner peace & joy. We have an epidemic of drug, alcohol & sex abuse. If not swallowed up into these, they are into money power, positions in the world and touch on these. Many are swayed & taken in by home life gratifications, like the fanciest home with the best furnishings. debt is not a concern for the instant gratification they get from having it. But it wares off and down the road they want better or just different. Many live fore clothing, the lie that clothing makes the person. It does, to those who are into material things. Yet we know , the beggar has worth & true Christians greet them with the same acceptance.
This is just skimming the changes, we know there is the political division that brings violence these days & anger & hatred even among neighbors. There are WARS & RUMORS OF WARS. Governments rising & falling. Propaganda has become our news worthy avenue. No one knows the truth as it has been either white washed or muddy up.
The signs in the sky are just as shaking. and people falling to serve aliens as their creator instead of God, not knowing that they are demonic. Not considering that Jesus told all these things. What would happen before He comes back & how He would return. A person has to be a Christian to not fall for such deceptions.
There is one passage that always brings me home to know how to conduct my life. I will share this now:
Matthew 6
Lay Up Treasures in Heaven
19 “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
The Lamp of the Body
22 “The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. 23 But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!
You Cannot Serve God and Riches
24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.
Do Not Worry
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
It has been verse 33 that the Holy Spirit has used to remind me where to go for years. Every time I get off the path this verse would lead me back on.
Although I have embedded all of Mathew 6 in my heart and have referred to the words often on this journey.
With all the distractions going on around us I suggest it is time to focus on what the Lord God has said and what He is whispering in our ears. Jesus will never leave us or forsake us. Times are getting crazy, He knew they would, yet we are living in a time of great expectation. A time many forefathers would have loved to live in. A time for God's Glory to be revealed in this place we call earth. We are only sojourners here. This is not our home!
Thank you for reading my thoughts today, May the Lord bless you and keep you safe. Most of all in the Father's hands.
