This weekend i received a new revelation. i heard it first on the Andrew Murray audio book i shared here.
"The body is for the Lord" was an interesting statement. It is not longer my body, it is His to use as He wills. One could ponder on that thought a good long while and not read another word.
Then he pointed out two facts i never considered before. i should have considered them but guess it was a blind spot. I kind of feel a bit dumb for not seeing it. Hope you are more observant than i have been.
The very first sin was thru the temptation of food. Eve looked at this apple and it was desirous to eat. Then Satan upped the ante with the knowledge bit of being as wise as God. Then Andrew Murray helped me remember, when Jesus was in the wilderness, Satan came to him with a temptation of food. Jesus replies "Man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God"
Seems like Satan uses food as a snare and a temptation a lot. probable more than we notice. For an example, Look at those well behaving Christians who don't get drunk and stay away from bad places. Yet, boy have you ever ate at one of their potlucks ! Oh yes be invited to one of their afterglow out to eat at a local restaurant, They are just as wonderful. Funny how we can eat and enjoy to overload, but no one addressed gluttony or the lustful desire of food. I guess Satan has tricked us pretty good. Especially in America where food choices are over the top. How easy this was to do with our abundance. We willfully fall right into it with our mouth watering and our unsatisfied variety of choices waiting to be tamed. My friend Peter in India told me that they have rice at every meal with a few vegetables and once a week they add meat. At the time i thought that we are certainly spoiled, but never once did i see how blessed he was to not have this temptation.
i have something to think about, repent about and redirect my thoughts about here.
