Good afternoon, it is a warmer day here in Northern Michigan; suppose to hit 41. it was only down to 36 all night. seems like it should climb higher but it is cloudy. Nevertheless I will praise God for his break in the icy weather. Hope all of you who have gotten snow are doing alright. yesterday I heard we hit a record, it had snowed in all 50 states it was said on the same day. I do not know how it snowed in Hawaii lest in the mountain areas. Anyways that was what was reported. interesting. to snow for you in the south it had to feel cold!
I was reading again 2nd Cor. chapter 6. and I wanted to share my insights from what Paul was speaking to the Corinthians & to us.
6 We then, as workers together with Him also plead with you not to receive the grace of God in vain. 2 For He says:
“In an acceptable time I have heard you,
And in the day of salvation I have helped you.”
Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to help us to not receive the Grace of God in vain. A deeper look at this inspired me to see that the GRACE OF GOD was His sending the Holy Spirit. For the Holy Spirit is who helps us overcome & not give in to the "old man" in us. (our old natures) We are not to take this grace in vain. To be mindful of our days and His presence within us to keep us on track.
continue vs 2 Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
It is not to be a goal for a far off time that WE may achieve! But it is the Holy Spirit inside of us helping to do what is righteous, It is God's Grace to us for Jesus to give us this Helper. Without Him we would not be able to withstand the old man or the devils ways. But He abides in us to help us walk the pathway of Jesus. It is for today, not tomorrow or when we die. It is now. Most of us know this to be true but being sheep we wander and forget. Yet the Scripture plainly instruct through the words of Paul that TODAY IS THE DAY OF SALVATION. IT IS THE ACEPTABLE TIME, DO NOT TAKE THIS GRACE IN VAIN.
Lord keep me mindful of the wondrous gift inside of me. amen. How I'd wish I would not wander, but walk each day mindful of this grace.
Than in vs 3 Paul explains
3 We give no offense in anything, that our ministry may not be blamed. 4 But in all things we commend ourselves as ministers of God: in much patience, in tribulations, in needs, in distresses, 5 in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors, in sleeplessness, in fastings;
I realized that this is the hard times in our lives. the bad situational times, the injustices, through governments & people that I hear about from the lips of well meaning Christians and I too fall into, once lured. Paul says "we take no offence in anything". I listen to these injustices being spoke out with entitlement attitudes or in discuss with shaking heads. Tears from my eyes flow as I love those who make these remarks and for my own repentance for when I waiver from the Grace of God and join in. We are encourage and even warned, not to take any offence. Be ready to pardon, to be merciful. Knowing they being in the world do not know better without the Holy Spirit dwelling in them. To my Christian friends who waiver, I need to also be ready to pardon & merciful, yet on my face in prayer asking the Lord to not hold this against them but bring them to this understanding of not taking any offences. In some cases share with kindness how we should all be and encourage them to be mindful of the Holy Spirit dweling in us to help.
6 by purity, by knowledge, by longsuffering, by kindness, by the Holy Spirit, by sincere love, 7 by the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armor of righteousness on the right hand and on the left, 8 by honor and dishonor, by evil report and good report; as deceivers, and yet true; 9 as unknown, and yet well known; as dying, and behold we live; as chastened, and yet not killed;
No matter what evil report are said or what they call us, even if they call us deceivers. If they attack us physically and verbally. We because we have the Holy Spirit and the Word of God for instruction, in purity & longsuffering, by kindness & sincere love we pardon them and show Jesus to them in all of our actions. Inside and out. He did this first by not retaliating, but by submitting to God, He spoke from the cross, "forgive them Father for they know not what they do."
I shall take these fruits of righteousness into my home and my community. My church group. For this is the kindness we are lacking and needs to be changed in us. The Holy Spirit can make me mindful and can alter bad thinking & quick reactions. I give up any entitlements of my personal humanities to carry the cross, for there is a far better land I seek.
10 as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing all things.
Thank you for letting me air my thoughts here, may God bless us all to draw closer and be mindful of the Holy Spirit with in us. What a glorious gift! Thank You Jesus!
