Adding to what I started yesterday. sorry I had multiple calls and a full nights working here.
It is raining here today. (yesterday) my chickens in their aprons are getting wet. we have no changes. but will have to dry them later so they do not stay on the hens wet. Oh my, a rooster is really working us to death! LOL It is in the high 30's today and is suppose to rain all day, turning to snow tomorrow morning.
It began to snow this morning so everything is sticking looking pretty white frosting the trees and bushes. Its suppose to drop throughout the day down to 10 tonight. and we have two hens inside due to Kansas wanting to control the independent ones. He has 2 faithful submissive hens but the rest run & hide. Sophia did not learn even with her apron on he still gashed her up bad. Goldie an older gal, is here now too, her comb was tore in two and when there is blood she has to be removed or the other hens will attack her. This has to stop. So offering up Kansas to a free range flock if anyone will take him. One that offers more hens than we have and a place to run faster. Praying someone will want him. It was a busy night last night creating two pens in the house with dealing with the wounds.
We have are in need of doing our utility room. That is suppose to be our winter project so we can buy new washer & drier at tax time. In the plans I will be creating a 3 cage station so I will not have them in my dining room in the future!!! We could use prayer to do this as my husband has never done remodeling. need God's wisdom on what to do & how.
Now to finish my last reflection:
I finished reading 2 Cor. 6 and to add to my previous reflection on the 20th. We are the temple of the Lord God Almighty. Being the temple we must conduct ourselves in a manor of honor, I remembered when the Israelites were told not to touch the ark and what happened when they did. Now this temple of God is us. He said "I will be their God and dwell in them." (see vs 16-18.) What an amazing gift He as bestowed upon us who believe. To have almighty God take residence in us! If one could just fathom this for a minute it will leave you breathless in wonder. I tend to think, Why would God want me to dwell in? I am nothing. His love is more than I am able to grasp. Grateful I am.
Then in the same passage Vs. 11-13 it says
11 O Corinthians! We have spoken openly to you, our heart is wide open. 12 You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections. 13 Now in return for the same (I speak as to children), you also be open.
Paul held back nothing, he bared his heart to them knowing their need. The Corinthians were a society much like ours in many ways. They did not want to rock the boat with their congregation so they accepted a great deal of worldly beliefs and actions to mix in among them. He says they were restricted by their own affections when they should have been restricted by the teaching of God which the apostles brought to them by the power of Christ & the Holy Spirit.
Definition of affection:
a gentle feeling of fondness or liking.
"she felt affection for the wise old lady"
synonyms:
fondness, love, liking, tenderness, warmth, devotion, endearment, care, caring, attachment, friendship; warm feelings
"the affection they share is obvious"
Affection Synonyms, Affection Antonyms from Thesaurus.com (in part)
Affection, "an emotion of the mind, passion, lust as opposed to reason," "inclination, influence, permanent state of feeling," "to do something to, act on." Sense developed from "disposition" to "good disposition toward".
Basically He was saying they cared more about the opinions of the world then the opinion of God. they did not want to tell their friends they could not have sex out of marriage and they were willing to accept adulteries and any things that was common to their society. But Paul calls them children. ones untaught, ones who did not know better. He asks them to be open in their hearts and mind to receive His teaching & corrections.
vs 14-16
14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:
“I will dwell in them
And walk among them.
I will be their God,
And they shall be My people.”
Paul addresses the reason for their lax in understanding. They were mixing unbelievers in with believers and came up with a middle theology. They held the opinions of the worldly to examine themselves and each other. Calling it grace, (vs 1) taking the grace of God in vain. when they had the Holy Spirit inside of them to instruct them. vs 16 says God wants to dwell in them, be their God & for them to be His people.
vs 17 & 18
17 Therefore
“Come out from among them
And be separate, says the Lord.
Do not touch what is unclean,
And I will receive you.”
18
“I will be a Father to you,
And you shall be My sons and daughters,
Says the Lord Almighty
What?
Did He say Come out from among them? What about evangelizing them or being the light to unbelievers? How can we come out from among them when we are so entwined? Our friend we go out with after work. our neighbors we play cards with???
This is my personal understanding of this command taken from Isaiah 32:11.
Being a Christian is a lifestyle different from what the world knows. The unbeliever need to know we are there for them in their grief and trials. They need to hear about our faith in Christ Jesus. But if we choose to make an unbeliever a side companion we hang with & confine in, then we will fall away from God. We let in a little leaven and it will expand & spoil the whole contained batch. No matter how strong we feel we are, opinions of the worldly will make a reasoning that sound right and we will find ourselves needy in the faith before too long.
1 Corinthians 15:33
Do not be deceived: “Evil company corrupts good habits.
So how do we still be a light and evangelize? That is so personal it relies on your surrender to the Holy Spirit inside of you for each situation and each moment.
This has become another need I have been praying into the Church and our homes. How we can show kindness and still be separate. I know it does not mean compromising our faith and our inheritance. My only example of this is how Jesus responded and who he held close. Only the Holy Spirit inside of us holds all the answers because so much of Jesus' life is not written down. Yet I believe there is enough to compare what we hear to make sure we are lining up with scripture.
The last thought I want to share is "do not touch what is unclean" which could take a lot more time than I have today. I will pick up here with the next reflection.
May the Lord bless your walk and bring you Home.
