These things written here continue into the New Year. and yet i am reminded of what God is saying for the hour from Isaiah 43:19. Look, I am about to do something new; now it is coming. Do you not see it? Indeed, I will make a way in the wilderness, rivers in the desert. Our country is going thru some birthing pains, but God has not forgotten us. Nor has he abandoned us. We shall prevail and move forward in all things, including our exercise & eating plans for a healthier us.
Hi again, so much has happened since this room started over a year ago. (now even longer) we got the keto down and then we got the corona and after that we rambled from here to there. i wonder if God is preparing us for hard times. To learn to eat as right as we can in difficult days. (we have now endured riots and election struggles, yet we preserver and continue to move forward.)
i come to realize that the first fall to sin was thru food. and with that noticing also Jesus was tempted with food in the wilderness. It seems like the devil has used food to tempt us into unhealthy desires. We find food pleasurable and it also has become entertainment. When it was intended for fuel for the body to function. With the variety of choices in America we become unsatisfied with the simple.
The diet of mana was not glorified, how many ways did they cook mana? Its like my friend Peter in India. how many ways can they cook rice? God provide quail for those on a mana diet, Peter gets meat once a week. This reminds me of our farming grandparents days. Sunday dinner had meat the rest of the week on the farm was just what was available. No fancy recipes, Just basic ones, used over and over again.
i cannot help but wonder if the days ahead will resemble those days. If so have we learned to do with the basics and not get too hung up on glorifying our desires of glamorous recipes. Maybe we should plan this month to pick a few basic ideas and make them last throughout the upcoming days. If we can have a simple guideline maybe we can stretch out pantries farther to sustain our families and maybe even our neighbors. We need to remain generous and helpful to those who have not prepared for trying days.
i do not try to promote conspiracy theories. Yet for some time now i have been hearing about food shortages being voiced by the farmers. even from some personal friends who have farms around here. Corn has been the highest up here that i have ever seen. At one time this year it was 12$ a doz. And when it was plentiful it dropped to 6$ for a short time, then went back up. Corn up here is usually a quarter a cob, sometimes dropping to 10cents. This was just one area and there were many more seen on the farmers mkt scene. The stores are showing increase prices but also showing lack of variety. It seems like if you shop Walmart ,(Which is the only big one we have here.) you will see most of the stuff is now becoming Great Value a Walmart brand. If you are fortunate to go to other grocery stores the prices are higher. which is normal but they are becoming too high for the average shopper. Even in our Save A Lot store, i find that can goods are not as plentiful and they have going up 15 cents a can since corona. These will only rise. Too many good people are giving the same story and the facts are showing up to back them. So this is something you might want to consider and take note of when you shop.
We all can see the trouble brewing over the elections. That is only less than a month away. If unrest does occur, which is 85% likely, it will not matter who is elected, people will cause trouble. we could be facing some difficult times and you may not want to go out to the grocery store. Please plan ahead. if you have too much and it turns out to be a bump in the road and over quickly, you wont have to shop as much this winter. It is a win win situation.
Plan in your head some ideas for food that will last. a simple menu. If you like rice buy a super bag. Get some bullion. Plan soups. plan pasta casseroles. Remember the days when you had to stretch it, we did with 10 kids in the house at one time and 4 adults. Beans was another way to stretch it. We my not have eaten these things as much today but we are not talking about normal times. Get your creative ideas from Prayer and talking to the CREATOR. He will bless your efforts in this. i remember one time i held up a pot of beans and asked God to bless it.... yep we ate beans for a week. i also heard about some missionaries who prayed during rough times for God to bless their soup pot to feed a group of unexpected travelers. It was a time when food to obtain was low. Although over 25 ate from that soup turin, it was always full. Jesus feeds the 5000 with 2 fish & bread. He will do the same for you.
Hope i have stirred you to do something before election day, and gave you some ideas.
Well it's time to plan my own grocery list. not a normal list this week, i only have 2 shopping days before the election as Jim gets paid every 2 weeks.
Be blessed . ag
