Before i went o sleep i asked the Lord who He wanted to be our president. i needed some first hand confirmation. Although i have heard the prophets of today tell of What God has proclaimed, i also know God will also speak to us, His children, His will. this is what followed in the night.
I dreamed i seen an old cook stove, the enamel kind. It was clean and looked good at a glance but it it was frail. i was viewing inside the oven door without racks. On the back of the oven wall i seen a hand stamp a post-it note so hard it punched a hole in the back of the oven. Yet the note hung on even thought there was a hole forming behind it. The note said TRUMP. and i heard the words "Besetting Sins". I stirred and went back to sleep. 3 times i stirred awake and returned to sleep, and each time the picture refreshed with the same words being spoken BESETTING SINS
i woke this morning seeking God on the meaning of this dream. The first thing i did was see to find out the full meaning to Besetting Sins.
Merriam dictionary said the word besetting means "a main or constant problem or fault"
Then i went o a biblical identification of this term and found this small portion of a study on besetting sins.
BESETTING SINS (Hebrews 12:1 Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us)
1. What is a besetting sin?
a. The phrase “easily beset” comes from a Greek word which means, “that which easily encircles or entangles, like a loose flowing robe.”
b. The runners in ancient times would lay aside even their under garments so as not to be impeded
c. Thus, the Hebrew writer is pleading for Christians to lay aside every hindrance in living the Christian life, especially those sins which, like inner garments, cling so close to us
d. Thus, besetting sins are sins which hinderingly cling so close to us and are so easily committed
2. What are some areas from which arise besetting sins?
a. Besetting sins may be those in which we indulged before obeying the Gospel, such as lying, gambling, cursing, cheating ….
b. Besetting sins may be those in which we are drawn to due to our temperament, such as pride, laziness, skepticism, or stubbornness
c. Besetting sins may be those to which we are exposed by our profession
1) Admittedly, there are greater temptations in some professions than others
2) The man who washes dishes in a cafe or mows lawns is not in a position to lie as would a certain salesman.
d. Besetting sins may be those in which we are particularly vulnerable due to weakness
1) The non-smoker has to fight less he revert back to his harmful habit
2) The alcoholic must fight to keep from drinking alcohol
3) The kleptomaniac struggles not to steal
3. Now be honest. What is your besetting sin?
a. Is it some habit? – the lottery? smoking? drinking?
b. Is it some attitude? – prejudice? over-tolerance? envy?
c. Is it some sin of the tongue? – gossip? lying? Filthy speech?
d. Misplaced affection? – money? pleasure? preeminence?
e. Is it a sin of the flesh? – unlawful sex? lust? petting?
4. Besetting sin can be overcome – 1 Cor. 10:13.... "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it."
Definition of the dream:
the oven , worn out and frail represents the American system. It was good working when it was purchased by our forefathers. Over the years it began to decay from not being in use. set aside, allowed to rust. You could not see the rust because it was in the structure on what holds the stove together. Once moved, you could began to see how frail it is. Trump is my answer to fix it.
God has answered my request and told me His will. you may or may not like what i was given , but you if you stay open an aske the Lord God yourself to show you His will.
